Optic fiber Systems JSC started to develop new fiber types with full cycle production

On 8 April 2019 OVS specialists obtained the first, produced in-house, test preform produced by FCVD method

FCVD (furnace chemical vapor deposition) – preform production technology by which chlorides are deposited from gas phase. The FCVD method is one of the three main ways to manufacture high quality telecommunication optical fiber preforms.

Further development of operating skills within the technology allows to manufacture preforms and then to draw multimode fiber of the G.651  standard and singlemode fiber of G.655. standard.

G.651 fibers – multimode optical fibers with the diameter of optic fiber core 50 μm. These fibers are destined to transfer big amounts of information to short distances, for example, optical connections in the data processing centers. Comparing to singlemode fibers they have higher price however require less expensive process equipment.

G.655 fibers – singlemode optical fibers with non-zero dispersion shifted. They are applied to construct transmission systems of optical connection with dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM). Non-zero shifted dispersion allows to alleviate four-wave mixing effect and that has good influence on the data transmission to long distances of optical signal.

Optic fiber Systems JSC is planning to obtain test samples of G.651 fiber as early as in 3rd quarter of 2019 and G.655 samples in 4th quarter.

“Optic fiber Systems” JSC (www.rusfiber.ru) – is the first Russian plant manufacturing optical fiber. The plant is situated in Saransk, Mordovia Republic. It  was officially opened September 25th,  2015. The shareholders of the company are RUSNANO, Gazprombank, the Government of Mordovia Republic.

Today it is a modern high-tech manufacturing with a capacity of 2,4 million km of optical fiber per year. While based on the scheduled upgrade project the capacity of the plant will be increased to 4 mln kilometers of optical fiber per year.

Currently there are the most popular types of the fiber – optical fibers of G652d and G657A1/G652d standards - are serially produced at the plant. The both types of the fiber are certified and were successfully tested by OJCS Rostelecom. Optical fibers of other types are planned to produce.
