From January 16 to January 30, 2020, joint tests of the Russian optical fiber E3(G652D) were conducted on the territory of the plant of "Optic fiber Systems" JSC.

Within the approved test program, optical fiber samples used in communication networks of “Svyaztransneft” JSC are being spliced with optical fiber of “Optic fiber Systems” JSC. After that the splices of optical fibers are placed into the splice closure and then checked for the temperature change exposure in a climatic chamber.   

The procedure for testing temperature changes was performed in accordance with the requirements of IEC 60793-1-52:2014 "Optical fibres - Part 1-52: Measurement methods and test procedures - Change of temperature tests".

Consequently the following results were obtained: the values of losses on all welded joints do not exceed the permissible values during and after 25 cycles of temperature change (the average loss value is <0.1 dB for 1310 nm and <0.05 dB for 1550 nm).

According to the test certificate, optical fibers E3 (G652D) of "Optic fiber Systems " JSC can be used in the communication networks of "Svyaztransneft" JSC independently or in combination with existing brands of optical fibers used in cables laid in the communication networks of "Svyaztransneft" JSC.

The results of the tests once again confirm the quality of the optical fiber produced by "Optic fiber Systems" JSC and its compliance with the stated technical requirements.

“Optic fiber Systems” JSC (www.rusfiber.ru) – is the first and the only Russian plant manufacturing optical fiber. The plant is situated in Saransk, Mordovia Republic. It was officially opened on 25 September   2015. The shareholders of the company are RUSNANO, Gazprombank and the Government of Mordovia Republic.

Optical fiber is the main component of optic cables for signal transmission in modern communication networks. Fiber is also used as a sensor for monitoring deformation, temperature, acoustics and other indicators.

"Optic fiber Systems" JSC produces telecommunication optical fibers of standards G652 and G 657 A1 including those with reduced diameter of 200 microns; provides services on optical fiber coloring and the application of ring marks "ringmarking". Optical fibers of new types such as G651 and G655 are being prepared for release. Products are certified in Russia and the quality is confirmed by "Rostelecom" PJSC, Russia's leading cable companies and foreign consumers.

According to the results of certification, optical fiber was approved for use on the networks of the largest Russian Telecom operators Rostelecom, MTS, MegaFon and others.

Manufacturing capacity of the plant is 4 mln kilometers of optical fiber per year.

"Svyaztransneft" JSC (www.svyaz.transneft.ru) –  is the only network integrator and communication operator in the oil pipeline industry. The company is  a subsidiary of Transneft (Transneft, JSC before June 30, 2016). 

At present, specialists of Svyaztransneft, JSC maintain over 60 thousand km of communication lines, including communication cables with metal wiring, radio relay lines, fiber optic communication lines.
