"Optic fiber Systems" JSC takes an active part in the creation of the regulatory framework in the field of telecommunication cables based on domestic optical fiber
"Optic fiber Systems" JSC together with "VNIIKP" JSC and the Fund for Infrastructure and Educational Programs of RUSNANO Group started to develop standards to ensure the production of optical cables with domestic fiber that meet international requirements in Russia for.
Within the "Program of standardization in the nanoindustry" it is planned to develop national standards that establish requirements for telecommunication optical cables applied in fiber-optic information transmission systems and for methods of their testing GOST R "Optical cables. General technical conditions" (instead of the outdated GOST R 52266-2004).
Moreover VNIIKP has started to develop:
- GOST R IEC 60794-1-24 "Optical cables. Part 1-24. General technical requirements. Basic test methods of optical cables. Determination of electrical characteristics" (direct application IEC 60794-1-24);
- GOST R IEC 60794-1-21 "Optical cables. Part 1-21. General technical requirements. Basic test methods of optical cables. Determination of mechanical properties" (direct application IEC 60794-1-21).
The developed standards will increase the competitiveness and decrease the dependence of the domestic cable industry on imported fiber, improve the reliability of cables during its usage in conditions of Russian environment.
The development of national standards at this stage is particularly relevant considering the increased import of optical fiber and optic cable of unconfirmed quality.
“Optic fiber Systems” JSC (www.rusfiber.ru) – is the first and the only Russian plant manufacturing optical fiber. The plant is situated in Saransk, Mordovia Republic. It was officially opened on 25 September 2015. The shareholders of the company are RUSNANO, Gazprombank and the Government of Mordovia Republic.
Optical fiber is the main component of optic cables for signal transmission in modern communication networks. Fiber is also used as a sensor for monitoring deformation, temperature, acoustics and other indicators.
"Optic fiber Systems" JSC produces telecommunication optical fibers of standards G652 and G 657 A1 including those with reduced diameter of 200 microns; provides services on optical fiber coloring and the application of ring marks "ringmarking". Optical fibers of new types such as G651 and G655 are being prepared for release. Products are certified in Russia and the quality is confirmed by "Rostelecom" PJSC, Russia's leading cable companies and foreign consumers.
According to the results of certification, optical fiber was approved for use on the networks of the largest Russian Telecom operators Rostelecom, MTS, MegaFon and others.
Manufacturing capacity of the plant is 4 mln kilometers of optical fiber per year.
