On November 11, 2018 within the upgrade project of the "Optic fiber Systems" JSC plant , the first shipment of the new technological equipment produced by "Rosendahl Nextrom OY", Finland, a long-term partner of Optic fiber Systems JSC, was carried out.

We recall that in December 2017, the expert council of the Industry Development Fund approved a preferential loan in the amount of 500 million rubles to increase the production capacity of the "Optic fiber Systems" JSC plant to 4 million km of optical fiber per year.

The upgrade project involves:

- substitution of furnaces of optical fiber draw towers which will allow to draw preforms of bigger diameter  and length ;

- installation of “hot swap system” that enables to reduce the time for preparatory procedures.;

- installation of “helium recovery sуstem” targeted to optimization of cost for optical fiber cooling during the draw;

- increase of optical fiber drawing speed from 1500 m/min  to 2000 m/min;

- reconstruction of clean rooms at the draw tower area  ;

 - implementation of auxiliary equipment for  rewinding under strain and auxiliary measuring equipment.

Also within the upgrade project it is planned to create additional areas at the site: handle welding area, coloring area and experimental area for production of preforms for optical fiber production using FCVD technology.

The installation of new equipment at the plant should be completed by the end of 2018. Therefore  it makes it possible to start production of optical fiber from larger preforms from January and not only to increase the capacity of the plant but also to advance the efficiency of  optical fiber production.

Members of the delegation of the Republic of Mordovia, who visited "Rosendahl Nextrom Oy" as part of a business mission to Finland had an opportunity to witness the dispatch of the first batch of equipment for "Optic fiber Systems" JSC . Vladimir Volkov, Head of the Republic of Mordovia, met with the management of Rosendahl Nextrom OY and inspected the company's production site, including the pilot production of preforms using OVD technology.

During the business meeting, further mutually beneficial cooperation was discussed, including issues related to the supply of equipment for the preform production plant.

The participants of the meeting were Alexey Nikolaev, Chairman of the Board of Directors of "Optic fiber Systems"  JSC; Gennady Meshchanov, member of the Board of Directors of "Optic fiber Systems" JSC, General Director of "Russian Research, Design and Technological Institute of the cable industry" JSC; Andrey Nikolaev, General Director of "Optic fiber Systems"  JSC; members of the Government of the Republic of Mordovia , the managers of republiccable plants.

“Optic fiber Systems” JSC (www.rusfiber.ru) – is the first Russian plant manufacturing optical fiber. The plant is situated in Saransk, Mordovia Republic. It  was officially opened September 25^th,  2015. The shareholders of the company are RUSNANO, Gazprombank, the Government of Mordovia Republic.

Today it is a modern high-tech manufacturing with a capacity of 2,4 million km of optical fiber per year. While based on the scheduled upgrade project the capacity of the plant will be increased to 4 mln kilometers of optical fiber per year.

Currently there are the most popular types of the fiber – optical fibers of G652d and G657A1/G652d standards - are serially produced at the plant. The both types of the fiber are certified and were successfully tested by OJCS Rostelecom. Optical fibers of other types are planned to produce.
