The results of the XIV Republican competition "Engineer of the Year of the Republic of Mordovia – 2018" were summed up

In accordance with the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Mordovia dated 31 October, 2005 No. 416 ”On holding the Republican competition “Engineer of the Year of the Republic of Mordovia”, specialists holding engineering positions at the primary place of employment in organizations of various organizational and legal forms and forms of ownership and having a higher professional education, regardless of the presence of academic rank and degree.

By decision of the competition committee, the 1st place and the Diploma of the 1st  degree according to the "Engineering Art of the Young specialists" in the nomination “Mechanical Engineering. Production Technologies” was awarded to Fadeev Roman, Head of the Draw Tower Section.

The 2nd place and the 2nd degree Diploma according to the “Professional Engineers” in the nomination “Engineering. Production Technologies” was awarded to Dmitry Tanyakin, Senior Specialist of the Department of Experimental Design and Technologies.

3rd place with the Diploma of the 3rd degree according to the "Professional Engineers" in the nomination “Engineering. Production Technologies” was awarded to Sergey Kuzmin, Infrastructure Department Engineer.

Maxim Buralkin, Test Engineer of the Chief Technologist Department, was awarded with the Participant's Certificate and an incentive bonus.

Scientific work of Fadeev Roman were sent to the Russian Union of Scientific and Engineering Public Associations for the XIX All-Russian Competition "Engineer of the Year", the results of which will be announced in February 2019.


“Optic fiber Systems” JSC ( – is the first Russian plant manufacturing optical fiber. The plant is situated in Saransk, Mordovia Republic. It  was officially opened September 25th,  2015. The shareholders of the company are RUSNANO, Gazprombank, the Government of Mordovia Republic.

Today it is a modern high-tech manufacturing with a capacity of 2,4 million km of optical fiber per year. While based on the scheduled upgrade project the capacity of the plant will be increased to 4 mln kilometers of optical fiber per year.

Currently there are the most popular types of the fiber – optical fibers of G652d and G657A1/G652d standards - are serially produced at the plant. The both types of the fiber are certified and were successfully tested by OJCS Rostelecom. Optical fibers of other types are planned to produce.
