Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Russian Federation Toyokhisa Kodzuki visited Optic fiber Systems Company

June 18, 2018  Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Russia Mr.  Toyokhisa Kodzuki visited the first Russian plant producing optical fiber. The First Deputy Prime minister of Mordovia – Minister of economy, trade and enterprise Vladimir Mazov,  representatives of a Japan company Sumitomo Electric Industries and the management of the Optic fiber Systems JSC met him.

After visiting the plant a working meeting of the participants took place. The key topic of it was the development of Russia – Japanese partnership, and also government support for joint prospective projects from Japanese and Russian state authorities.

Vladimir Mazov pointed out that today there are favorable conditions for the development of optical fiber manufacturing in Russia. The main factors for realizing the project of the first plant of this type in Mordovia are measures of government support, big potential of domestic market, and also existing infrastructure and human resource base of the project.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Russia Mr.  Toyokhisa Kodzuki in turn pointed out that the governments of Russia and Japan support future development of cooperation in the field of digital economy, he mentioned the Joint plan of cooperation in the field of digital economy, which was concluded during Japan-Russian summit in May 2018.

“Optic fiber Systems” JSC (www.rusfiber.ru) – is the first Russian plant manufacturing optical fiber. The plant is situated in Saransk, Mordovia Republic. It  was officially opened September 25th,  2015. The shareholders of the company are RUSNANO, Gazprombank, the Government of Mordovia Republic.

Today it is a modern high-tech manufacturing with a capacity of 2,4 million km of optical fiber per year. While based on the scheduled upgrade project the capacity of the plant will be increased to 4 mln kilometers of optical fiber per year.

Currently there are the most popular types of the fiber – optical fibers of G652d and G657A1/G652d standards - are serially produced at the plant. The both types of the fiber are certified and were successfully tested by OJCS Rostelecom. Optical fibers of other types are planned to produce.
